The Four Trends You Need To Know For Spring/Summer 2024
As the days are getting longer, many of us are long to enjoy the sunnier days for the upcoming months. More importantly, we are excited to transition our wardrobes to lighter fabrics and appreciate the lightness of the season. Here are some key trends to incorporate for Spring/ Summer 2024 inspired by this season’s collections.
Summer Shade: White
Incorporating light, white fabrics for the season is a must! The debate around the death of quiet luxury is still ongoing, however simplicity for Spring/Summer may be the answer. The Row S/S24 showed a series of white flowy linen silhouettes that was still powerful, stying with simplicity and comfort. Social media favourites Gimaguas and Cou Cou intimates have put their playful spin on linen and pointelle fabrics, reimaging comfort. For maximalist lovers, we look to the Rabanne collection for inspiration this season paring white draped garments with chunky gold. There is something for everyone this season.
Revival of Boho-Chic
Post-Chemena Kamali’s debut for Chloé, many of us immediately pinned the Chloe’s roots in 70s inspired boho-chic fashion as perfect versatile essentials to add to our wardrobe. The accessories from Louis Vuitton’s Western inspired show including fringe accents and chunky heeled sandals from Chloé were added to the wish-list. We have a feeling that the 70s boho movement is returning in full force and may be just what we need for the festival season.
Sailor Girl-Core
As we look forward to spending more days at the beach and enjoy the ocean in the sun once more, the designers of the season such as Simone Rocha for Jean Paul Gaultier have been mixing nautical motifs with the feminine. This is possibly a new dimension exploring the coquette and bow trend, Miu Miu and SHUSHU/TONG have beautful girl-ish sailor collar pieces in their ready-to-wear collections for the Spring/Summer that are an unexpected statement details. JW Anderson also showed these sailor knots for the S/S24 collection unexpectedly and we feel is an interesting next step, to the trending bow detail.
Sheer Summer
See-through fabrics are always well-loved for the warmer seasons, for their versatility to wear on occasion or casual. Saint Laurent’s recent show showed an entire collection inspired coloured sheer fabrics, embodying openness and embracement. An ode to confident dressing, mesh additions are made for the Spring/Summer. Dear Frances has their own mesh ballet flats that are THE option for the warmer weather. As well as Paloma Wool with statement sheer dresses marrying femininity and elegance with transparency.
