The 2026 MTV VMAs red carpet brought together dramatic couture, low-rise silhouettes, high-shine embellishment and some of the night’s most distinctive fashion statements. Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the ceremony continued the VMAs tradition of giving celebrities more room to experiment with their red-carpet dressing.

From Taylor Swift’s sculptural Tamara Ralph gown to Lisa’s vivid red look, Charli xcx’s archival Saint Laurent and Tyla’s Y2K-inspired Mowalola ensemble, these were ten of the standout looks from the 2026 VMAs.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift arrived in a custom Tamara Ralph gown that combined a fitted black halter bodice with a dramatic silver, crystal-embellished skirt. The contrast between the dark upper half and reflective lower section gave the look a sculptural quality, while the intricate embellishment provided the main visual focus.

Rather than relying on a complicated silhouette from head to toe, the gown concentrated its drama in the skirt, creating a polished red-carpet look with a strong sense of occasion. Swift completed the ensemble with Le Silla shoes and jewellery by Leviev, Anita Ko, Forever Diamonds and Etho Maria.

Lisa

Lisa brought colour to a predominantly dark red carpet in a vivid red look combining The Attico with a textured Quine Li coat. The sheer, lingerie-inspired base was contrasted with the volume of the coat, which was worn over the shoulders.

The strength of the look came from that contrast: a streamlined silhouette underneath a more substantial outer layer, all in a single saturated shade.

Teyana Taylor

Teyana Taylor embraced full evening drama in Zuhair Murad Couture. Her black gown combined lace and sheer detailing with a plunging neckline and feathered elements, creating a silhouette designed for movement.

The combination of transparency, texture and volume gave the look a distinctly theatrical quality, fitting comfortably within the more dramatic side of the VMAs red carpet.

Charli xcx

Charli xcx took a darker approach in Saint Laurent, wearing a black velvet look from Anthony Vaccarello’s Fall 2017 collection. The ensemble combined an ultra-low-rise skirt with a cropped top and dramatic balloon sleeves.

The archival reference gave the look a distinctly Saint Laurent character, while the proportions kept it firmly within Charli’s more unconventional approach to red-carpet dressing.

Tyla

Tyla brought a distinctly early-2000s sensibility to the VMAs in Mowalola. Her snakeskin-print look paired a bra-style top with a matching low-rise skirt, creating a deliberately pared-back silhouette around the bold print.

The look was completed with Le Silla shoes and Chopard jewellery, adding another layer of polish to an outfit that otherwise leaned heavily into the Y2K reference.

RAYE

RAYE chose a more traditional interpretation of red-carpet glamour in Georges Hobeika Couture. Her gown was covered in intricate embellishment, with a cowl neckline and a sheer construction creating a light-catching effect across the silhouette.

Against the evening’s darker, more experimental looks, the gown offered a classic couture moment while retaining the sense of occasion expected from a major awards-show carpet.

Normani

Normani wore a custom Robert Wun gown, combining a metallic bronze-gold bodice with an expansive black pleated skirt. The contrast between the close-fitting upper section and exaggerated lower silhouette gave the look its architectural quality.

A sculptural black shoulder detail added another dimension to the gown, creating a sharp transition between the metallic finish and the darker fabric below.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton leaned into high-shine glamour in a crystal-embellished silver mini dress by The Blonds. Structured shoulders, cut-outs and crystal accessories gave the look a deliberately maximal finish.

The styling, including matching gloves, boots, jewellery and silver sunglasses, referenced the ultra-glamorous aesthetic associated with Hilton’s early-2000s fashion while giving it a distinctly red-carpet treatment for 2026.

Ciara Miller

Ciara Miller brought a more pared-back interpretation of the low-rise trend to the VMAs in Aiden Euan. Her look paired a brown leather-effect bra top with coordinating lace-up trousers, placing the emphasis on the construction and proportions of the separates.

Tom Ford shoes and Pandora jewellery completed the look, keeping the accessories relatively streamlined against the more intricate detailing of the trousers.

FLO

FLO arrived on the VMAs red carpet as a group, with Stella Quaresma, Jorja Douglas and Renée Downer retaining their individual styling while still reading as a collective.

That distinction is important on a red carpet: rather than relying on identical outfits, the trio’s looks allowed each member to maintain her own silhouette and styling while contributing to a cohesive group appearance.
