Deep berry colour meets a sheer, glass-like finish in one of autumn’s biggest nail trends.
If you’re ready to swap summer’s pale manicures for something darker, jammy nails are making a strong case for your next appointment.
The manicure takes the familiar look of jelly nails into a richer autumn palette. Cherry red, raspberry, blackberry, plum and burgundy replace summer’s brighter colours, but instead of the solid coverage usually associated with darker polish, the colour has a sheer quality that gives the nails visible depth.
It sits somewhere between a classic dark manicure and the jelly nails we’ve been wearing for several seasons. The shades feel right for colder weather without losing the lightness that made the original trend so wearable.
Jammy nails aren’t entirely new, but the autumn palette is becoming increasingly visible this season. GELCARE’s Autumn/Winter 2026 collection includes Merlot, a deep berry jelly, while Cirque Colors has grouped shades including Wine Jelly, Fig Jelly and Açaí Jelly into its Jammy Jellies collection.
Story previously covered the return of jelly nails. Jammy nails take that same idea and shift it towards the reds, purples and wine shades we tend to return to at this time of year.
What Are Jammy Nails?
The difference is mainly in the finish. Where a traditional burgundy or berry polish usually provides solid coverage, jelly formulas allow some of the natural nail to remain visible underneath the colour.
For autumn, that effect is being used with shades reminiscent of berries and fruit preserves: raspberry, cherry, blackberry, grape, plum and wine. Depending on the shade and number of coats, the result can range from a light wash of colour to something considerably deeper.
There isn’t one prescribed version. A bright raspberry works just as well as a dark blackberry, which makes the trend easy to adapt to the colours you would normally wear.
How To Get Jammy Nails
At the salon, ask for a sheer or jelly manicure in a berry, cherry, plum or wine shade rather than an opaque burgundy. It’s worth showing your nail technician a photograph too, as the amount of coverage can vary considerably between versions of the look.
At home, start with a base coat before applying the colour in thin layers. Two coats will be enough for many formulas, while a third can create greater depth without completely covering the nail underneath.
Finish with a high-shine top coat. The reflective surface is particularly important with darker shades, helping to give reds and purples the dimensional appearance associated with the trend.

Jammy Nail Ideas To Try This Autumn
From brighter reds to deeper purple tones, these are eight ways to wear the trend.

Wildberry Jelly
Wildberry sits at the brighter end of the spectrum. This strawberry-red shade gives plenty of colour without the heaviness of a traditional dark manicure, making it an easy starting point if plum or burgundy feels too deep. DND’s DC Jelly #015 Wildberry is one way to recreate the look.
Cherry Jam
Cherry is closer to a classic red, but the lighter coverage changes the effect. Rather than one flat block of colour, different areas of the nail appear deeper as they catch the light.

Wine Jam
Wine is an obvious choice as the weather gets colder. It has the richness of burgundy but feels less heavy than the opaque versions that usually return every autumn. Cirque Colors Wine Jelly combines a burgundy-red colour with a shiny, transparent finish.
Fig Jam
Fig moves away from red and into eggplant purple. The colour can appear particularly dark in lower light before its purple undertone becomes more noticeable. Cirque Colors Fig Jelly offers a deeper purple take on the jelly finish.

Blackberry Jam
Blackberry has a cooler, more muted appearance than cherry or raspberry. It’s particularly suited to anyone who usually chooses purple for autumn but wants something softer than a conventional full-coverage manicure.
Raspberry Jam
Raspberry falls between bright red and the season’s darker berry colours. This version also introduces scattered metallic detail, adding a little nail art without distracting from the colour underneath.

Deep Berry Jelly
Deep berry combines red, purple and wine undertones. Of the eight looks, it’s one of the closest to a traditional dark autumn manicure, but there’s still enough variation in the colour to give it more dimension. Cirque Colors Açaí Jelly is a dusty dark-purple jelly with a transparent, buildable finish.
Pink Raspberry Jelly
Pink raspberry takes the trend in a lighter direction. It keeps the berry palette but works particularly well if you’re not ready to move straight from summer nails into the season’s darkest reds and purples.
