A Day In The Life | Amy Lawrenson

Her instagram page is a delight and deserves a follow. She has such a wonderful way with wearing makeup. Her skin is always dewy and glowing. We are priviledged that we spoke to Amy Lawrenson, a freelance beauty editor and consultant about a day in her life.

8am: First thing, I sip warm water and lemon. Not forgetting to take my supplements. These are by Aime and designed to boost skin glow, I find they make a big difference when I use them.

8:30am: I’m always trying new (and new-to-me) products, this is the clay mask by cool L.A. brand Freck. I’m impressed, it draws out impurities without drying the skin.

9am: A quick coffee and orange juice while I check my emails

10am: Now it’s shower time for me and bath time for Louis. He is a sphinx cat and needs to be washed once a week.

11am: Here he is with Cedric. I call them “my babies”, my partner James calls them “lodgers that don’t pay rent”. PoTAYto, PoTAAto.

11:15am: I have a small box of products in the bathroom that are the new things I’m trying on the daily, this switches up pretty regularly. Currently, I’m giving skincare brand Biossance a whirl. I’ve heard good things about it, plus Jonathan Van Ness is a spokesperson and I adore him.

1pm: I did a quick Instagram Live with the very brilliant makeup artist Mira (@miramakeup). This look was created using only drugstore products.

2pm: Bought new crates for the office from Hay to organise all the products I need to review or feature. Louis looks like he’s helping… He’s not.

2:30pm: Walter, the neighbour, popped by for a quick visit.

3pm: I head out for a walk around Amsterdam, the city is so beautiful especially along the Amstel river and walking across the Magere Brug (translation: skinny bridge) is my favourite place to be. Getting outside definitely boosts my mood right now.

4pm: Bought an air plant on my walk and found it a new home. It’s surprising how many shops are open in the city!

4:30pm: Filmed a retro waves tutorial for my IGTV – it’s easier than it looks, promise!

6pm: And… time for a margarita! I have got into making my own cocktails at home since the bars are all closed. Margaritas and whiskey sours are my faves.

7:30PM: Whipped up a quick carbonara. I am not a very good cook so I’ve used this lockdown as a time to perfect a few dishes (I have a pretty good cheeseburger recipe on my IG highlights if you like McDonald’s!).

9PM: Finished the meal with a new cocktail recipe, an amaretto sour. It’s so good, and sweet enough to have as a dessert.

10PM: A quick chapter before bed! I’m currently reading Three Women by Lisa Taddeo. Other lockdown faves have included Sally Rooney Normal People (I am yet to see the TV adaptation, can you believe it?! And Calypso by David Sedaris).

It appears that Amy truly loves skincare and makeup. That is effortless. I love that in that same day she went on Instagram live, filmed a make up session with @miramakeup and then filmed an IG video on wavy hair. The wavy hair was gorgeous but I was inspired by the look using only drugstore brands. Her face has such a great glow. I look forward to her inspiring feed, follow her here
