The Best Of Brick Lane | Morley’s Brick Lane

If you live in London and you enjoy eating fried chicken, you’ve definitely heard of Morley’s Chicken, but do you know the history behind London’s cult chicken shop? Morley’s Chicken have been on the doorstep of London for over 35 years, first formed in 1985 in Sydenham, South London by Kannalingam “Indran” Selvendran. Now, with multiple locations across the capital, they are a firm favourite with customers travelling from outside the city to get a bite of the juicy, full-of-flavour meat they are known for. In November 2020, Morley’s Chicken opened their first shop in East London in, you guessed it.. Brick Lane.

So, why is Morley’s Chicken so popular? The franchise prides itself on the local community and their ‘supporters’. They use the term supporters rather than customers as their faithfulness to Morley’s is a bond, rather than a random purchase. When looking a little further into this statement, we can confirm, it’s true. Morley’s Chicken supporters have a loyalty to the brand like no other. To eat at a different chicken shop would be comparable to cheating on your barber. Unimaginable. They are most famous for their wings, burgers and combo meals.

Not only is Morley’s Chicken now a household name for families in London but it’s also getting wider recognition due to their strong image across social media. Music artists such as Stormzy, Krept & Konan, Big Narstie and Digga D have all shown love for their favourite chicken shop on Instagram and even in their music videos with Stormzy’s ‘Big For Your Boots’ racking up an impressive 69 million views on YouTube to date. From London to the world.
