The Feather Trend Is Everywhere In 2026
Feathers have been fluttering around fashion for centuries, from historical symbols of status to a signal of sophistication. The feather trend first started peaking in the Victorian era, where extravagant hats were embellished with feathers from the likes of peacocks, ostriches and even more exotic birds. Today, feathers remain fashionable as they fly down our runways and frequently grace our red carpets events.
Whether you are draped head to toe in the clean silhouette of a feathered gown or embellishing an accessory. Feathers have a light and airy quality that elevate your look without appearing too clashing to the eye. Take it from Queen Latifah who recently stunned at the 2026 Tony awards, wearing a dramatic feather gown by Naeem Khan, a designer celebrated for his intricately detailed and ornate gowns. The gown was a subtle nod to her performance 30 years ago of matron ‘Mama Morton’ in Chicago. But she was not alone, singer and presenter of the awards that night P!NK also graced the red carpet with a look from Jean-Louis Sabaji.

The feather trend has also become a phenomenon on the Autum/Winter 2026 runways. Houses such as Dior and Balenciaga incorporated feathers along the hemlines of garments, while Prada featured feather trimmed skirts mixed with plaid and heavy outerwear. Feathers were also featured at the likes of Alaïa and Valentino.

Feathers on the catwalk
Star studded events are flying with celebrities flocking their feathers for the camera, this comes as no surprise for those who have been paying attention to the runway collections rolling out over the past few months. Notably, the Oscar red carpet saw the likes of Demi Moore stepping out in a figure-hugging Gucci gown blanketed in black and green iridescent feathers. Nicole Kidman wore pale pink Chanel with feather coated peplum and ostrich feathers dotted along the lower half of her skirt. Then came Teyana Taylor, also in Chanel, with a dress covered in black and white ostrich feathers all the way.

As we have fluttered through the feather trend, it is not just the red-carpet gowns that have shaped it.
Model and business owner Hailey Bieber recently took to Instagram for her 28th birthday photographed wearing an opulent feather top. The style icon for so many young girls, however, did not stop there. She even took the feather trend to her signature shoulder length hair, officially dubbed the ‘feathered bob’ by ELLE magazine. From couture runways to feathered broches, feathers offer a perfect touch of elegance to any look. When looking to integrate a playful and whimsical essence to your style, you now know where to start.
