Discover the story of DUMEBI…
Who founded the brand?
I founded DUMEBI in 2016 out of my love of my Nigerian heritage, Haute Couture fashion, renaissance art and my desire to bring my designs to life
Why she Founded the brand
Fashion has always been my passion and as a young girl living with Sickle Cell Anaemia fashion was my beacon of hope. It was the perfect distraction and hobby that developed into a career goal I’ve had since I was 16. I pursued fashion by studying my bachelor degree in Fashion design at Parsons The New School for Design and IFA Paris. Shortly after graduation I had done several hands-on design internships, working firsthand with various designer brands in their studios which gave me the insight into the everyday workings of a modern fashion house that you don’t learn in fashion school. These experiences gave me the confidence to follow my dream of being a Fashion Designer – “if they could do it so could I”. I’m very passionate about handmade clothing, sustainable and ethical fashion so I created DUMEBI to help eliminate the excessive use of mass production in the fashion industry and bring back quality handmade clothing & accessories and provide a tailor made service for each client catering to fabulous, independent & confident woman from various backgrounds living their best life whilst looking and feeling their best. All our creations are handmade in-house in our North London Atelier using couture techniques and exotic high quality materials sourced in UK.
The Story so far…
So far DUMEBI has showcased creations internationally from Paris, to London Fashion Week to The Cannes Film Festival. DUMEBI has also been worn by various rising actresses and musicians for magazine articles, editorials and music videos. This has been a been a dream come true for me as one of my biggest goals was to see beautiful talented and inspiring woman from around the world wearing my handmade creations, looking and feeling beautiful.
