Tips For Your Spring Routine
It is officially spring and if you are wondering what your daily health routine should look like we asked experts. We hope this inspires you in taking good care of yourself.
NHS physician Dr James Thompson says “as it gets warmer, maintaining hydration is crucial. Aim for about 8 glasses of water daily. Keeping track can be simplified by using a water bottle that measures intake. Carry a reusable water bottle. This makes it easier to drink water regularly, even when you’re on the go.”
With reference to skincare he says… “As spring arrives, the changing weather calls for an adjustment in your skincare routine.” “Swap out heavy creams for lighter, hydrating formulas that won’t weigh down your skin. Look for moisturisers that are non-comedogenic and suitable for your skin type.
Make sunscreen a non-negotiable part of your morning routine. Opt for a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 30 to shield your skin from UVA and UVB rays.”
About a routine this time of year Lydia Collins-Hussey award winning specialist paediatric allergy dietitian with over 11 years experience working within the NHS and private practice says “at this time of year it’s important to supplement with Vitamin D as our main source is sunshine and in the UK this is limited, also more vulnerable groups it’s recommended to supplement all year round such as infants, the elderly, those pregnant and breastfeeding.”
She also says “as part of a morning routine it’s helpful to eat a balanced breakfast to set up for the day. I always start the day with my favourite fruit tea and then around an hour later have either pancakes with yogurt and fruit or eggs on toast.”
We hope these pointers will help you this spring. What does your routine look like at this time?
Kind thanks to Dr James Thompson and Lydia Collins-Hussey.
