10 Homeware Picks That Fit Interior Design Trends 2025

It started with a fresh coat of paint. Then came the slow-but-steady layering of textures, colours and shapes. And now, two years in, I can say with confidence that while the renovation of my home is very much a work in progress, the vision has always been crystal clear: character, contrast, and a bit of magic.

As someone who’s always lived between fashion and interiors, I tend to approach homeware like I do clothes – looking for pieces that speak, that ground a space or make it whisper something elegant, unusual, a bit personal. This year, interiors are leaning into depth and texture in a way that feels refreshing: brown is back, velvet is queen, drapery has taken on a life of its own, and yellow – yes, yellow – is having its own quiet comeback.

Brown furniture, once dismissed as dated or too traditional, now feels rich and grounding. From dark walnut tables to vintage-inspired pine sideboards, it adds that layer of lived-in warmth that flat-pack can never quite replicate. It’s not just about nostalgia – it’s about making a space feel storied.

Drapery is no longer just about keeping out the light; it’s a design statement. Pleated, sweeping curtains in rich velvets or sheer layers are now sculptural elements – framing rooms, softening lines, and adding movement. It’s these unexpected touches that turn a room from functional to fabulous.

Then there’s velvet – soft, sensual, and everywhere. Think beyond the typical sofa or cushion. Velvet curtains, velvet stools, even velvet lampshades are making waves. The key? Look for texture you want to reach out and touch.

Colour-wise, wine red is quietly stealing the spotlight. Not on the walls (we’re not ready for that level of commitment), but in accents – lighting, upholstery, accessories. It’s lush, moody, and surprisingly easy to work with. Similarly, jewel tones are back – but this time they’re more muted, more soulful. Yellow, especially, is working beautifully as a grounding colour in upholstery or rugs. Less sunshine, more ochre. Think Giverny kitchens, not Ibiza terraces. And perhaps the biggest shift of all? We’ve finally moved past interiors that feel like showrooms. Now it’s about contrast. Minimalism meets maximalism. Vintage pieces meet modern lines. There’s a freedom in mixing – of finding that perfect 80s stool to sit next to your pristine Scandi lamp. It’s this blend of old and new, polish and patina, that brings a home to life.

With all of that in mind, here are 10 pieces I’ve either bookmarked or brought into my own space – each one tapping into the trends above, while still feeling uniquely me. From a dramatic velvet curtain to a sculptural candlestick, here’s what I’m loving right now:

This year’s colour palette—from ochre to wine red—is a perfect reflection of  Interior Design Trends 2025 where richness and softness go hand in hand.
