Best 5 Catwalk Shows At Couture Fashion Week

Couture Fashion Week is where the pinnacle of fashion artistry is displayed, each show a testament to innovation, craftsmanship, and creative vision. This year, the event showcased a spectacular array of collections, each telling unique stories and pushing the boundaries of haute couture. Among these, five standout catwalks captured the imagination and admiration of all attendees. Let’s delve into the highlights of the five best catwalks at this year’s Couture Fashion Week.

1. Thom Browne

Last year, Thom Browne celebrated his brand’s 20th anniversary by debuting his first haute couture collection in Paris. On June 24, 2024, his second couture show at Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs demonstrated his mastery of the medium, featuring imaginative runway shows and extraordinary embellishments. The event opened with male models in white skirt suits playing tug-of-war, inspired by this year’s Olympics. Browne reimagined American sportswear, using white muslin for tailored sportscoats, swim trunks, and pleated tennis skirts. The show referred to the upcoming Olympic games in a whimsical and quirky way, one of the best looks being the gold, silver and bronze medal inspired blazers.

2. Schiaparelli

3. Chanel

Chanel debuted its first collection since Virginie Viard’s departure at Palais Garnier, the iconic Paris opera house. The show utilized the ornate atrium and sweeping marble staircase as its backdrop, creating a sense of realism as models appeared to stroll after an evening at the opera. Designed by Chanel’s in-house team, the “Fashion Creation Studio,” the collection featured dramatic taffeta capes, frilled collars, and richly embellished tweeds- all staples for the French super-brand. References to opera and ballet included tutu-like ruffles and bows. Sophisticated and theatrical, the Fall/Winter 2024/25 Haute Couture collection highlighted Chanel’s enduring house codes and romantic elegance.

4. Rahul Mishra

Rahul Mishra’s fall collection drew deeply from spiritual inspiration, focusing on the concept of aura. Reflecting on motifs close to his Indian heritage, Mishra references Brahma, the god with four heads representing omnipresence. “As Brahma’s aura grows, the universe expands,” he noted, aiming to capture this through his designs. Mishra described aura as beyond personality, connected to the soul. Choosing black to represent its mystery, he created a dazzling collection featuring black-and-gold dresses, embroidered profiles, and spiky nylon threads symbolizing aura. Adorned with metal, glass beads, rhinestones, and multi-coloured embroidered flowers, Mishra’s work embodied a journey of mystery and imagination.

5. Dior

Haute couture is crafted on the body, each creation a unique choreography. The upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games inspired Maria Grazia Chiuri to honour athletes who have overcome prejudice. The vision of this collection cites back to ancient Greek attire, as seen in the fluidity and structures created. Chiuri used jersey, resembling metal mesh, to contour silhouettes with ultralight inner bustiers. Pleats, draping, and classical references featured prominently, with silk dresses, moiré jacquard skirts, and goddess dresses. The collection, blending couture and sportswear, celebrated female strength and elegance, influenced by the Olympics’ classical roots and modern freedom.
