Paris Travel Guide With Eshores: Where To Enjoy Olympic Fever In Paris

With 669 million views on TikTok to date, it’s fair to say that the whole world is looking towards Paris for the 2024 Olympics. More than 15 million tourists are expected to visit the city during the Summer Olympics, and with the events certain to captivate the crowds, there is a lot more to discover beyond the stadiums.

Regardless of whether you have tickets to the events or not, Paris is full of hidden gems where you can catch a glimpse of the action while taking in the Parisian culture.

The travel experts at eShores, a team of leading travel consultants, have combined their favourite parts of Paris with Olympic action hotspots to bring you the ultimate travel guide this Summer Olympics. This is the perfect Paris guided tour during the Paris Olympics and beyond the Paris Olympics dates.

1.      Jardins du Trocadéro

The Trocadéro gardens is a beautiful garden space situated opposite the Eiffel Tower, making it the perfect spot to sit down for a picnic and take in the immense views of the landmark without getting caught up in queues of tourists.

Not only do you get to bask in the beauty of the Eiffel Tower, this summer the park will host parades of the previous days’ medal winners, offering meet and greets as well as showing live events on big screens.

A view of the tower and a chance to watch some Olympians? Win win!

2.      Montmartre Stairways

Notorious for its staircases (38, to be exact), Montmartre is a neighbourhood in the North of Paris and is famous for its winding, cobbled streets, making it stand out from the rest of Paris.

To embrace the Olympic fever, challenge yourself by racing up down the 300 steps leading to the Sacre Coeur Basilica, which are currently painted to represent the summer of sport.

The fun doesn’t stop once you reach the top, however, as this year the Olympic torch will pass by the Sacre Coeur Basilic on July 15th. So, if you find yourself in Paris on this date, gear up for a stairway race and enjoy the flame as it parades past.

 3.      10km race for all

Consider yourself a local-legend on Strava but not quite up to Olympic standards (yet)? On the evening of August 10th, an official 10km run will take place for all to enter.

The route will take its participants through iconic places via epic monuments in the heart of Paris as they run along the Seine – runners will even take in a glimpse of the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower at night.

4.      The banks of the Seine

Whether you’re in Paris for 2 days or 2 weeks, a stroll along the Seine is a must. It sits below street level, but access to a pedestrian-only sidewalk along the river is available via stairs and ramps.

Trying to get your steps in while navigating a mass of tourists may be trickier during the Olympics, however, but don’t let that stop the fun.

Instead, claim your spot with a hamper and picnic rug and join the supporters for the men’s and women’s triathlon (30th&31st July), the mixed triathlon (5th August) the marathon swimming (8th&9th August) or the Para-triathlon (28th August).

Head down early to get a good spot of the athletes crossing the finish line!

5.      Paris Pastry Street

Known to locals as Paris Pastry Street, Rue du Bac is a street that stretches from the River Seine to Le Bon Marché, and is comprised of chic boutiques and an extraordinary number of patisseries and chocolatiers. Adding to its collection are several venues opened by some of the most notorious pastry chefs in Paris, including Jacques Genin and Philippe Conticini.

If the thought of croissants and macarons isn’t enough to get you to Rue du Bac, on July 30th & 31st, this year’s triathletes will pass through the famous street during the 40km bike ride element of the race, on their way back to the Seine.

So, grab your mille-feuille and cheer on the athletes as they cycle past!

If you’re looking to catch a glimpse of the action, don’t let the stress of holiday planning dampen your summer spirit and let the experts at eShores book your perfect package holiday.
