Silver Screen | Ama K Abebrese

There are actors and there are ‘actors’.
The latter are formidable in scope and depth. Their roles transfix. Their roles inspire. They have inherent talent.
British actress, producer and TV presenter is a talent in that latter group.
The award winning actress of Ghanaian heritage holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts and Drama. Some of her stunning film credits include Hollywood Cary award winning ‘Beasts of No Nation’ starring Abebrese as the mother of a boy played by award winning Abraham Attah who is abducted by a warlord played by Idris Elba who becomes a child soldier. She also stars in the difficult role of a woman domestically abused by her husband as played by Jimmy Jean-Louis in Leila Djansi’s award winning ‘Sinking Sands’. In Blitz Bazawule’s (his credits include being one of the directors of Beyoncé’s Black Is King’ and future work … the new ‘The Color Purple’ with Oprah) stunning and cinematic ‘The Burial of Kojo’ released on Netflix and distributed by Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY Now.
Ama’s producing credits are just as starry; Bazawule’s ‘The Burial Of Kojo’, a performance for award winning Wizkid, being the former head producer of Own Productions, an executive producer at Viasat 1 and more. She is a notable TV presenter having worked extensively with the likes of the BBC, OBE Television, Viasat 1. Her interviews are beloved and are power packed; the George Lucas of Star Wars, Rihanna, Harrison Ford etc. This woman is formidable, this woman was born for the screen, this woman is a world class talent.
