Spring Summer 2027 Fashion Trends Emerging So Far

Spring/Summer 2027 is moving towards bolder colour, mixed prints and more individual styling. Collections shown so far in New York and London have used colour, proportion and layering to update familiar pieces.

Minimalism has not disappeared, but the early SS27 collections are showing a wider range of approaches to dressing, from clean tailoring to contrasting colour and print.

FASHION IS BECOMING MORE EXPRESSIVE

Neutral wardrobes, simple tailoring and the clean-girl aesthetic have been prominent in recent seasons. For Spring/Summer 2027, designers are introducing more colour, print and layered styling.

New York Fashion Week showed several approaches, ranging from relaxed tailoring to more decorative and layered looks. The collections shown so far do not point to one dominant aesthetic, with designers using familiar wardrobe pieces in different ways.

COLOUR IS A KEY SS27 TREND

Bold colour is one of the trends emerging from Spring/Summer 2027. Rather than appearing only as an accent, colour is being used across complete looks and in contrasting combinations.

Tanya Taylor used bright shades and prints, while Marc Jacobs combined strong colour with layered looks and exaggerated shapes. In London, Mithridate designer Daniel Fletcher used combinations including ochre with petrol blue, hot pink with scarlet and cornflower with green.

PRINTS AND LAYERING ARE BEING MIXED

Print is also appearing across the SS27 collections. At Tanya Taylor, printed pieces were styled with contrasting colours and textures rather than being used as a single statement within an otherwise neutral outfit.

Layering is also affecting how pieces are worn. Jackets, shirts, skirts and accessories are being combined in different proportions, making the styling of individual pieces an important part of the look.

PROPORTIONS ARE CHANGING

Designers are also changing proportions for SS27, combining oversized pieces with shorter or more fitted garments and altering familiar silhouettes through construction and styling.

Marc Jacobs used layered dresses, longer lengths and contrasting proportions across the collection. The shows so far suggest that there is no single dominant silhouette for the season, with designers working across different lengths, shapes and volumes.

INDIVIDUAL STYLING IS PART OF SS27

Individual styling is also emerging across the SS27 collections. Prints are being mixed, contrasting colours are appearing in the same look and pieces from different styles are being worn together.

Mithridate’s Spring 2027 collection mixed references to menswear, womenswear, sportswear and eveningwear. Fletcher also referenced the New Romantic movement, using different influences within the same collection.

MINIMALISM IS NOT DISAPPEARING

Stronger colour and more varied styling do not mean minimal fashion is over. Clean tailoring, neutral colours and simple silhouettes remain part of the SS27 collections, alongside more decorative approaches.

Harris Reed’s Spring 2027 collection was predominantly white, with hand-painted fabrics, organza, silk brocade, patchworking and structural details providing texture and shape. It shows how designers are developing relatively restrained colour palettes through fabric and construction.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT SS27 SO FAR

New York Fashion Week has finished and London Fashion Week is underway. Milan and Paris will add to the picture as the Spring/Summer 2027 shows continue.

So far, bold colour, mixed prints, changing proportions and individual styling are among the main directions emerging from the season. Minimal tailoring and neutral palettes remain present, but they now sit alongside a wider range of colours, silhouettes and styling approaches.
