Fashion Designer | Maximillian Davis

Maximillian Davis a young designer from Manchester, UK has talent beyond his years.

An alumni of the London College of Fashion, a dress (customised to add a red sleeve cuff) from his spring summer 2021 collection was recently worn by Michaela Coel at the BAFTA TV awards were Coel wins four awards on the night.

The hallmark of that dress (image one) and the rest of designs above (from the same collection) is ‘elegance’.

Davis makes beautiful clothes; tailoring, sophistication, craftsmanship.

In a piece online by British Vogue, the designer is quoted as saying “I want people to see that black elegance exists”.

He made his debut at fashion week in September 2020 through the Fashion East platform. That collection as seen above was informed by his Trinidadian roots. The collection was mostly designed in his bedroom as inspired by tailoring, cravats and coats from the 19th Century and Trinidad’s annual carnival which celebrated Black identity.

The unisex collection explores the idea that some associate tailoring with the White race. He wanted to challenge that and open up conversations on race.

Davis is one to watch. His taste, aesthetic and vision is one to watch.
