Many of us are obsessed with the lives of our favourite celebrities. Everything from what they eat to their beauty secrets are pored over by the masses. One such celebrity that has influenced beauty is Jennifer Aniston. Her famous hairstyle in the iconic 90s sitcom ‘Friends’ was widely copied across the globe and till this day remains a hair reference point for many. More recently one of her skincare routines is being discussed.

A few years ago after Jennifer discovered a viral skincare TikTok video where a woman submerged her face in ice cold water for 20 seconds, she began to follow the routine in a different way. She has spoken about it saying –

“Oh no! Not for 20 seconds,” she said, adding, “What I do is, I get a bowl and then fill it with ice. And then I splash my face 25 times.” “It wakes you up [and] gives you a little burst of energy. I think it’s good for your pores—it tightens everything up. So, who doesn’t want everything tightened? Keep it tight,”

We wanted to get an expert’s thoughts on this and we were able to speak to Arezoo Kaviani, Facial Specialist as pictured below.

“There are so many different beauty tips making headlines in the news, and especially now with the evolution of Tik Tok. Jennifer Aniston revealed to Allure, that she watches a lot of skincare tips on the app (before it got cancelled in the US). Jennifer gets a bowl, fills it with ice and splashes her face 25 times every single morning. I’ve been using ice in my facials for over 40 years now, and there are so many incredible benefits.

“Using ice-cold water on your face is a great way of calming down any inflammation of the skin and reducing morning redness post sleep or any irritation that you may have experienced overnight. Be careful if you have rosacea acne as too much hot and cold can cause a further flair-up. Teenagers may benefit from using ice on acne as it can help reduce spreading, and further break-outs. It’s a cheap and effective way of looking after your skin”
